AMMAN — The Jordan Press Association’s (JPA) General Assembly endorsed a proposal to cancel the retirement fund for journalists during their ordinary meeting on Saturday.
The majority of journalists who attended the meeting granted the JPA Council “full authorisation” to move ahead with the necessary procedures to cancel the fund without referring to the general assembly again for that purpose.
The general assembly also approved a set of suggested amendments to the JPA Law as worded by the association’s council.
The JPA Council was also granted the green light by the assembly to go ahead with verifying the membership of journalists in the syndicate.
