Judeh discusses region, ties with Libyan, Canadian FMs

AMMAN — Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Thursday discussed bilateral ties and the latest regional developments in separate meetings with his Libyan and Canadian counterparts, Mohammed Al Dairi and Rob Nicholson. 

During his meeting with Dairi, Judeh voiced Jordan’s full support to Libya in rebuilding efforts, and eradicating the spread of terrorism and radicalism.

He also voiced Jordan’s readiness to put all its resources at the disposal of “the brotherly Libyans” as Dairi expressed his country’s desire to benefit from the Kingdom’s expertise, especially in labour, judicial training, technology and public administration.

Dairi said Libya is grateful to Jordan for its support of Libyan causes at the UN Security Council and elsewhere in the international arena. 

Judeh’s talks with Nicholson focused on the latest regional developments and means to enhance Jordanian-Canadian relations at all levels.

Nicholson said Canada will consider Jordan a country of interest in terms of aid, allocating 158 million Canadian dollars (around JD90 million) for assistance to the Kingdom over the next five years.

The two diplomats reviewed efforts to relaunch peace negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis that can lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also discussed the situation in Syria and the international campaign against terrorism and radicalism.
