Judeh, Kerry discuss Syria developments

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva on Sunday and discussed the latest developments in Syria, especially in Aleppo, and efforts under way to reach a ceasefire in the war-torn country.

The two officials stressed the need for more efforts towards achieving a transition in Syria that can guarantee the access of humanitarian aid into besieged territories, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Judeh reiterated Jordan’s unaltered position on Syria’s ongoing war which advocates a comprehensive political solution that can end the suffering of the Syrian people and safeguard the territorial unity of their country, Petra said.

He also underlined the importance of reviving the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations on the basis of the two-state solution that can ultimately lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to Petra.

On the developments in Iraq, the two sides also stressed that all Iraqi parties resort to dialogue to resolve the political crisis so that Iraq can restore its security and stability, according to Petra.
