AMMAN — The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) has announced the launch of the fourth round of its community entrepreneurship competition project.

The project aims to develop the talents of young people and encourage them towards entrepreneurship and innovation. Through this competition, the fund hopes to discover and support aspiring entrepreneurs who can find solutions to the pressing issues that their communities are facing.

This initiative is in line with the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah, which recognises youth as the primary agents of change and the importance of investing in their productive capabilities, according to a KAFD statement released on Tuesday.

According to the project's development plan, the competition’s target age range has been expanded to include individuals and youth groups between the ages of 22 and 40. Civil society organisations have also been included as an eligible sector for support in implementing innovative ideas that are tailored to meet the needs of their respective communities and regions. This move is aimed at promoting creativity and innovation in addressing social challenges.

Titled "Don't let your idea stay on paper", this round of the project aims to help young people implement new entrepreneurial projects or develop existing ones, improve upon their ideas and enhance their impact on their local communities.

Those who wish to apply for support can complete the application form on the registration platform at between April 18 and May 15, according to specific terms and criteria.

Qualified projects will receive technical support through a training programme to develop the project idea and ensure its effective and tangible impact. Winners will receive financial support of up to JD5,000 for individuals and youth groups, and JD10,000-JD15,000 for civil society organisations.

Launched in 2019, the project has supported 12 projects and provided a total of 1,797 direct and indirect opportunities, according to the KAFD statement.
