AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Wednesday met with President of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States and President of the People's National Assembly of Algeria Brahim Boughali, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Jazi, and Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Haditha Khraisha, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The two sides affirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening ties across various sectors, in line with the aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria.

Khasawneh underscored the importance of building on the momentum generated by the Kings’s visit to Algeria, which was followed by mutual visits by Jordanian and Algerian ministers and officials.

He stressed the crucial role of legislative institutions in both countries in advancing bilateral relations and leveraging shared experiences for mutual benefit.

The prime minister also hailed Algeria’s leading role in addressing Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, and expressed the desire for coordinated efforts between the two countries, according to Petra.

He also briefed Boughali on Jordan’s efforts, led by the King, to halt Israeli aggression on Gaza, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and work towards a political solution leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Boughali commended the deep-rooted relations between Algeria and Jordan and hailed Jordan’s leadership for their dedication to Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian issue.

Also on Wednesday, Senate President Faisal Fayez and Boughali discussed ways to strengthen Jordanian-Algerian relations in various fields, particularly in the economic and parliamentary sectors, and increasing trade exchanges. They also called for an end to the atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, according to Petra.

Also on Wednesday, Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research Azmi Mahafzah discussed collaboration in the educational sectors with Boughali.
