AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday bestowed the Order of Al Nahda of the First Degree on General Intelligence Department (GID) Director Gen. Faisal Shobaki.
The medal was awarded to Shobaki in recognition of his distinguished services in the various posts he has assumed, a Royal Court statement said.
Shobaki was appointed GID director in October 2011. Prior to his appointment, he held various senior posts in the department.
He was promoted to the rank of general in 2013.
The Order of Al Nahda, the highest medal in Jordan, was awarded to Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour last month in appreciation of his services to the Kingdom.
The medal was originally given to those who had participated in the Great Arab Revolt, but it can also be awarded to prominent figures — such as princes and prime ministers — for major contributions in the service of Jordan.
