King Hussein Medical Centre adds 17cm to man with dwarfism

AMMAN — A medical team at the King Hussein Medical Centre has performed lengthening surgery on a 22-year-old man who suffered from dwarfism, adding 17 centimetres to his height, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday. Maj. Bassam Harahsheh, a surgeon specialising in restoring and lengthening extremities, said that the surgery included splitting a bone in two and waiting for bone to grow between the two parts. He said that there is a 94 per cent success rate in such surgeries.
