King receives cables of condolences over deadly border attack

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday received a cable of condolences from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the loss of lives in Tuesday’s terrorist attack on the border with Syria, a Royal Court statement said.

Seven Jordanian troops were killed and 13 others injured when a car bomb exploded at a military post in the Rakban area.

In the cable, Erdogan offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Turkish president expressed his country’s support for Jordan in fighting terrorism. Also on Thursday, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church sent a cable of condolences to King Abdullah.
