AMMAN — Kurds in Jordan marked Nowruz and the 49th anniversary of the Karamah Battle on Monday, by holding various cultural activities.
Nowruz, ushering the arrival of spring, was celebrated by Qandil Foundation through several cultural events, the foundation’s president Suhad Talabany stated.
All segments of society, from different backgrounds, celebrated the festival side by side, she told The Jordan Times during the closing ceremony on Monday.
“They all celebrated in a stable and secure country like Jordan, which comprises us all,” she added.
A photo and art exhibition targeting university students, a fashion show as well as a concert — all curated by Kurds and Arabs — were part of the celebrations, Talabany said.
The photo and art exhibition is part of a cultural exchange between Kurds and Arabs to encourage the youth to be more involved in art, a statement from the Qandil Foundation said.
