AMMAN — Head of the Lower House’s Agriculture and Water Committee MP Khaled Hiari on Saturday commended the Labour Ministry’s measures to prevent an increase to the over 600,000 workers in the agricultural sector, who have no permits and have “infiltrated” various other sectors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
On Thursday, Minister of Labour Nidal Bataineh said that as part of the new procedures, the ministry will prohibit these workers from moving to other sectors to protect the sector and the interests of business owners.
Additionally, the Central Bank of Jordan will be contacted to prevent the workers from making money transfers to outside Jordan, more monitory campaigns will be held to identify violators and hefty fines will be imposed on business owners who employ workers without permits.
