AMMAN — The Lower House on Wednesday approved amendments to the 2022 Military Conscription and Military Reserves Law. The mandating reasons for the amendments entail allowing the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) to keep up with technological developments and automated services, including the conscripted service document, as well as to determine the minimum duration of service, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Per the amendments, the period of service is no less than three months, and no longer than two years. The lawmakers approved exemptions to conscription, including in the case of an only son in a household.

It also stipulated that every male Jordanian who is 17 years of age activate their conscripted service document before the age of 18. Also on Wednesday, the Lower House approved amendments to the 2022 Law of the Service of Officers in the Jordan Armed Forces.
