Lower House Financial Committee discusses Youth Ministry budget

AMMAN — The Lower House Financial Committee on Sunday discussed the Ministry of Youth’s budget as part of the draft general budget for the 2023 fiscal year, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

MP Nimer Suleihat, who chaired the committee, said that the ministry's 2023 budget amounted to JD31.4 million, an increase of JD8.8 million.  

JD7.1 million is allocated capital spending and JD1.7 million for current spending, he added.

Committee members inquired about the Ministry of Youth's 2022 achievements and plans for 2023, submitting a recommendation to increase the ministry's 2024 budget. 

Minister of Youth Mohammad Nabulsi referred to a number of ministry’s future projects, noting that the ministry's priorities include modernising and developing youth centres and sports facilities, in addition to hosting international sports tournaments.  

Nabulsi noted that the ministry continues to meet with youth stakeholders, catalysing connection between young people and decision-makers. 

Nabulsi also said that the ministry seeks to follow up on the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service and increase the number of volunteers registered with Nahno —  the national platform for volunteer work
