Majali calls for identifying reasons behind assault on doctors

AMMAN — Interior Minister Hussein Majali on Monday called for identifying the reasons behind assaults on doctors and taking measures to end them.
At a meeting with Jordan Medical Association President Hashem Abu Hassan, acting Public Security Department Director Maj.

Mohammad Zou’bi and justice and health ministers Bassam Talhouni and Ali Hiasat, stakeholders agreed to ask the judicial authority to activate laws governing assaults on employees, including doctors.
They also agreed on adopting a mechanism to report such incidents within a specific time frame.
There were 38 cases of assault on medical personnel last year and 19 cases since the beginning of 2014, Abu Hassan said at a separate meeting on Monday with Senate President Abdur-Ra’uf S. Rawabdeh.
