AMMAN — The Health Ministry on Sunday formed a committee to investigate the H1N1 (swine) flu cases discovered in Mafraq governorate and the medication used to treat them.

In a statement sent to The Jordan Times, the ministry said 12 cases of H1N1 have been diagnosed and hospitalised in the northeastern governorate.

Eight were discharged after receiving the required medication, while two are still in Mafraq Public Hospital and are expected to be discharged on Monday.

The statement did not mention any deaths.

Earlier on Sunday, news websites reported that a death was reported in Mafraq due to H1N1.

Ministry officials were unavailable for comment despite several attempts by The Jordan Times.
