Ministry urges elderly to register in health insurance scheme

AMMAN — The Health Ministry has called on citizens above the age of 60 wishing to benefit from the decision to include them in the health insurance scheme to visit the relevant administration or departments in their directorates to receive their health insurance card, according to the ministry’s statement.
Health Ministry Spokesperson Hatem Azrui said that there are more than 18,500 citizens over the age of 60 that have received insurance cards since the government’s decision to include non-insured elderly citizens into the health insurance system, pointing out that the card can be issued through the ministry’s department offices and online on www.hia.gov.jo.
