AMMAN — The Ministry of Health, the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training (PTI) and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding agreeing to provide the ministry with medical equipment and training programmes for health personnel.

Under the memo, signed by Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari, Director-General of PTI Aghadir Jwaihan and Latter-day Saint Charities’ Director Sharon Eubank and Regional Director in Jordan Mark Johnston, the ministry will receive wheelchairs, mobility aids, training on mother and newborn care, along with a newborn resuscitation programme.

The PTI will assist in executing the initiative and ease the entry and clearance of equipment at border crossings, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The Latter-day Saint Charities, active since 1989 and funded by the LDS Church, operates in 190 countries, including Jordan, with five full-time volunteers, according to Petra.
