AMMAN — Deputies and Maan dignitaries on Friday discussed ways to end the crisis in the southern governorate.

A committee of Maan dignitaries was formed on Friday to coordinate with the Lower House committee concerned with Maan in order to provide solutions to the current situation.

During a meeting with Maan’s officials, members of the House committee commended the dignitaries’ responsiveness to the proposals made by the Lower House, which outlined a comprehensive plan to end the crisis, starting with the burial of the two people who died as a result of a recent security raid.

They also called for bringing the suspects targeted in the ongoing security campaign to court, where they will receive a fair trial.

Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh stressed the importance of the reconciliation efforts.

Deputy Mahmoud Kharabsheh said there are 19 wanted suspects in Maan.

Former minister Ahmad Aqayleh said the poverty rate in Maan stands at 26 per cent and unemployment at 19 per cent.
