AMMAN — The Lower House’s Public Freedoms and Human Rights Committee on Sunday discussed the 2017 human rights report of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) at a meeting attended by Chief Commissioner Mousa Braizat, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

MP Awad Zawaideh, who chairs the committee, said that the panel was briefed on some complaints submitted in the NCHR’s 2017 report, as well as its recommendations regarding the situation of public freedom in the Kingdom, stressing the need for enforcing the law and revisiting relevant legislation to address loopholes.

For his part, Braizat stressed the need for amending laws governing cybercrimes, labour and administrative detention, adding that the decline of public freedoms in the Kingdom would have negative effects on Jordan’s reputation.
