National epidemiology centre to enhance fight against pandemic — PM

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday instructed relevant institutions to speed up procedures for completing all administrative and organisational requirements needed to launch the National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Centre.

Chairing a Cabinet session, Khasawneh stressed the need to provide all the capabilities required to the centre's work to contribute to enhancing national competencies to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, or any similar future challenge, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

A Royal Decree was issued two weeks ago approving the centre’s by-law, which was published in the Official Gazette. Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers approved the appointment of Hussein Mheidat as secretary general of the Local Administration Ministry.
