AMMAN — The Organisation of Operation Smile Jordan has announced the launch of a new mission to treat children who are suffering from various birth deformities such as cleft lip, cleft palate, burns, scars and bloody birthmarks.

The announcement came during a press conference held in Amman, according to a statement released on Monday.

Operation Smile has been working in Jordan since 2004 and has treated over 3,000 children free of charge so far, the statement said.

Amal Zureikat, chairperson of Operation Smile Jordan, announced that the next campaign will be held from November 11 to 13 at the Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II Hospital in Ain Al Basha, with the aim of treating 50 children.

The average cost of such operations is around JD700 to JD1,000. The mission will be led by a multinational medical team that includes various specialties, the statement added.
