Park, children’s library inaugurated in Northern Mazar in Irbid

AMMAN – Northern Mazar Municipality on Thursday inaugurated the Juhfieh Park, marking the completion of a community development project implemented by Save the Children Jordan and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), a joint statement said.
The opening of the park and its refurbished children’s library is the municipality’s first step in implementing the “Community Improvement Plan 2017-2020”, which was produced in partnership with DRC. Mutie Shurman, mayor of Mazar Municipality, which covers nine districts in Irbid, and is home to more than 100,000 Syrian refugees, commended the support of Global Aid Canada, STC Jordan and DRC in partnering to meet the pressing development and employment needs of people in the municipality.
DRC worked with the municipality to understand the needs of the community by facilitating dialogue tables and focus group discussions while STC Jordan rehabilitated a library for children with special needs in the park, statement said.
