Performance report on Khasawneh gov’t launched 

30.5% of Cabinet decisions related to finance, economy

AMMAN — The government committed to 160 pledges within the 2021-2023 government economic action priority programme and 79 pledges within the 2021-2024 government executive programme, Al Hayat Centre for Civil Society Development (Rased) said on Tuesday.

These figures were announced in a Rased report to monitor the government’s performance after 18 months of forming Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh’s government, Al Mamlakah TV reported.

Rased Director General noted that the report includes a study on MPs views of the government with 120 responses from parliamentarians. He also stressed that citizens should be aware of the government’s procedures to help enhance communication between the government and the people. 

As for pledges in the government economic action priority programme, 36.2 per cent have been implemented, 37.5 per cent are being implemented, while 26.3 per cent are pending implementation.

There are 95 pledges whose specified time has finished, where the government has implemented 53.7 per cent of them and 30.5 per cent of them are being implemented.

As for the 79 pledges within the 2021-2024 government executive programme, 18.9 per cent were completed, 22.7 per cent are pending execution and 58.4 per cent are being implemented. 

As for government decisions, the Cabinet made 565 decisions, where most were related to financial and economic topics at 30.5 per cent, followed by administrative decisions at 22.2 per cent and then legislative decisions at 18.7 per cent.

As for decisions to appoint leading jobs, they totalled 73 under which 104 people were appointed in jobs such as secretaries general, ambassadors and in academia. 

Meanwhile, Cabinet members made 3,663 field visits, including 78 activities for the prime minister, where the minister of agriculture paid the highest number of field visits at 142, followed by the minister of social development with 121 field tours and 115 for the tourism minister.

The report also showed that Cabinet members made 159 trips outside of the Kingdom between October 12, 2020 and April 10, 2022. 

The report also included a survey for MPs’ on the performance of Khasawneh’s government, where 10 per cent of lawmakers said that the government was able to bear its responsibility to a “high extent”, 54.1 per cent said that the government was able to bear its responsibility to a “medium extent”, and 19.2 per cent said that the government was able to bear its responsibility to a “low extent”, and 16.7 per cent said that the government was able to bear its responsibility to a “limited extent”.
