AMMAN — On Mother’s Day this year, Jordanians look for personalised products to present as a token of appreciation for their mothers.

Mother’s Day is celebrated in Jordan and many other countries on March 21.  However, in many parts of the world, it is also observed on various days most commonly in the months of March or May.

“This year we created Mother’s Day gift options, because it is a simple yet perfect way to increase sales during the occasion,” said Ayla Khozahe, owner of a local skincare brand.

Khozahe noted that most people in Jordan particularly this year, are leaning towards sentimental gifts like “what I love about my mom” journals, mother’s edition skincare products, bracelets or other jewellery that spell “best mom ever” or “my mom is a queen”.

Baraa Ahmad, a marketing strategist, told The Jordan Times that “when gifting something that speaks to a mother personally, it becomes more special and unique”.

Mothers’ gifts require a little more thought, she added. All businesses want to get considered as a gift option, so now on their Instagram pages they put together gift guides, in addition to running special Mother’s Day offers and deals.

Nada Jamal, a mother of two, told The Jordan Times, that “Mother’s Day is an opportunity to express gratitude and love towards all the mothers”.

Jamal added that “the love she has for her mother is inexplicable”, so this year she decided to buy her a customised bouquet.

Mothers’ gifts should be thoughtful, hand-picked and special, said Yousef Omar, a Jordanian in his 20s.

“This year I’ll buy her a gold bracelet with her name on it, in celebration of my love for her,” Omar said.
