Petra visitors approach pre-pandemic numbers — PDTRA

AMMAN — The number of visitors to the rose-red city of Petra increased by 193 per cent in September 2022 compared with the same period in 2021, according to figures published by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) on Sunday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In September, the number of visitors reached 75,330, compared with 25,721 during the same month in 2021, of which 66,061 visitors were foreigners, while 9,269 were Jordanians and visitors from Arab countries. PDTRA Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners Suleiman Farajat said that Petra, in September 2022, saw the greatest number of visitors since 2019.
Petra-area hotels have enjoyed high occupancy rates during the past several days, he added. The number of Petra visitors is approaching pre-pandemic numbers, as 93,000 visitors were recorded in September 2019, including 83,223 foreigners.
