PM extends greeting on Easter Sunday

AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki extended his greetings to Christians on Sunday on the occasion of Easter, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

Mulki, Senate President Faisal Fayez, several ministers and parliament members visited the Roman Orthodox Church in Amman and met the heads of churches to greet them, as representatives of all Christians, on the Easter holiday. 

 Mulki stressed that all Jordanians, whether Muslims or Christians are one, and they are all key participants in building and developing the country. 

He said His Majesty King Abdullah's seventh discussion paper, published on Saturday, focuses on the importance of education and pursuing the culture of dialogue and diversity. 

For his part, Fayez expressed his pride in the unity between Muslims and Christians in Jordan, and reaffirmed his solidarity with Christians in opposing terrorist acts like those which recently took place in Egypt. 

He also added that terrorism has no relation with any religion or country and wished for the safety of Christians everywhere in the world. 

Patriarchate Theophilos III of Jerusalem sent his greetings from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which was renovated with the help and donations of King Abdullah, the custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem. 

 Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh also greeted Christians on the Easter holiday at the beginning of the Lower House's Sunday session.
