PM vows zero tolerance for health violations as COVID-19 cases climb

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday stressed the need to fully comply with the defence orders in the public and private sectors. 

He also highlighted the importance of  adhering to prevention and public safety measures in light of the increasing number of coronavirus cases registered in Jordan over the past few days, stressing that there will be zero tolerance for any violations.

Chairing the higher committee for addressing the impacts posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Khasawneh highlighted the responsibility of all individuals and institutions in maintaining the opening of sectors, moving at a steady pace towards economic recovery and continuing in-class learning in schools and universities. 

The prime minister underlined the importance of increasing the demand for coronavirus vaccines, including the third booster dose, in a way that contributes to reaching collective immunity.

Khasawneh listened to a briefing from Health Minister Feras Hawari on the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, the increase in the number of infections and the percentage of positive tests. 

Hawari presented the ministry's plan to bolster the health system in the Kingdom and provide vaccines, stressing that the vast majority of hospital admissions and deaths were linked to those who did not  receive vaccination.
