Police announce details of raid on terror cell

AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday announced that all investigations, criminal evidence, and the results of samples taken from the crime scene show that “the terrorist killed in the raid on Monday morning was the shooter that killed Brig. Gen. Abdulrazzaq Dalabeeh in Maan on Friday”.

A PSD statement said that all evidence revealed that a “criminal terrorist plan” was made assigning each of the suspects a certain task. 

Last Thursday, a group burned tyres to block streets, “while the terrorist that was killed and his elder brother were assigned to shoot at public security personnel upon their arrival to handle the riots”.

The firearm used by the shooter on Monday during the raid, which led to the deaths of three officers and the injury of five others, matched the samples taken from the crime scene of Dalabeeh’s murder, after samples underwent testing at a forensic laboratory. 

These tests prove that this firearm was the same used to kill Dalabeeh, according to the statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The PSD said that the security force that carried out the raid worked for long hours to arrest the wanted persons and to neutralise the killer during the “complex circumstances” surrounding the raid.

The killer attempted to exploit these circumstances, as the raid was conducted in a residential area and the killer moved among adjacent houses where children and women were inside, the PSD statement said. 

Neighbours also attempted to obstruct operations until the force managed to isolate and kill the suspect, who was in possession of a large quantity of ammunition and fired at the force, the statement said.
