AMMAN — Police are searching for suspects in connection with the stabbing to death of a 27-year-old man in a street in Aqaba late Saturday night, official sources said on Sunday.
The victim was stabbed by unidentified assailants while in the street in downtown Aqaba, according to Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi.
“We have not made any arrests in this incident and we have not established a motive,” the police official told The Jordan Times.
The young man was stabbed multiple times in the market at 10:30 pm, a second source said.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival, the second source told The Jordan Times.
A team of government pathologists in Aqaba performed an autopsy on the victim on Sunday and concluded that he died from a single stab wound to the heart, a medical source told The Jordan Times.
Sartawi said that investigations are ongoing and that crime lab experts collected evidence that will hopefully help with the investigations.
