Premier reaffirms public sector reforms underway

AMMAN — The government is working to overcome the various obstacles hindering the launch of the Public Administration Institute, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz told Deputy Speaker for the House of Representatives Nassar Qaisi and the ministers convened for the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The premier reaffirmed to Qaisi that the Cabinet is seriously looking into restructuring these bodies, though the process, entailing extensive dismantling and reintegration, is not easy, he warned. Qaisi reiterated to the Cabinet that the House expects the government’s plan on the matter posthaste.
“Fairer” appointment mechanisms need to be devised in order to effectively counter the deterioration in these institutions and preserve the citizens’ rights, he stressed. Another pressing matter, the premier highlighted, is the civil servant performance evaluation issue.
The government is working on it, Razzaz reaffirmed. On decentralisation, Razzaz explained that the process is becoming clearer with every step, as there are more underway.
