Prince Mired honours top achieving disabled student

AMMAN — HH Prince Mired, the president of the Higher Council for the Affairs of People with Disabilities (HCAPD), on Wednesday honoured Taqwa Al Sfouh, a disabled student who ranked fifth in the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) 2016-2017, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the ceremony, Prince Mired said that the HCAPD works in cooperation with the Education Ministry to achieve inclusive education for all and highlighted the efforts exerted to develop regulations, instructions and educational curricula to achieve equality of opportunity.

For her part, Sfouh said that the facilitating arrangements and encouraging school environment, in addition to the support of her family and educational staff, mainly contributed to the overcoming of her disability.

Also on Wednesday, the Social Security Corporation, in the presence of Prince Mired, chairman of the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers, honoured a number of disabled soldiers, Petra added.
