Princess Alia inaugurates solar cells at Aqaba school

AMMAN — HRH Princess Alia, head of the Princess Alia Foundation, on Tuesday inaugurated solar cells at Abdullah Bin Qais Al Harithi School in Aqaba, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The school became the first school in the governorate to use solar cells to operate and light its facilities, Petra reported, adding that the princess highlighted the importance of using solar energy in public schools to reduce operational costs, while also stessing the role of the private sector in supporting the education sector in the Kingdom.
The project, implemented in cooperation between the Education Ministry, the National Electric Power Company and Eagle Hills Jordan, aims to improve the education environment in the school, especially in terms of air conditioning during Aqaba’s hot summer weather. At the end of the ceremony, the princess toured the school’s facilities.
