Princess Basma speaks at Jordanian Society for Digestive and Liver Diseases conference

AMMAN — The ninth conference of Jordanian Society for Digestive and Liver Diseases and ninth conference of African, Middle East Jordanian Congress of Gastroenterology started on Thursday in the presence of HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal.

The three-day conference, which also features the participation of President of the World Gastroenterology Organisation Naima Amrani and elite Jordanian and international gastroenterologists, seeks to discuss the latest developments in this field, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The conference also aims at reaching solutions to current challenges, drawing future plans to enhance cooperation and transferring knowledge in the best interest of patients.

Princess Basma expressed appreciation for the Jordanian medical societies, including the Jordanian Society for Digestive and Liver Diseases, the Royal Medical Services and the public and private medical sectors, in keeping pace with the latest development in the medical sector.

The princess also referred to the dangers of diseases of the digestive system and their impact on the immunity and growth disorders, mainly among children.

President of Jordanian Society for Digestive and Liver Diseases Yousef Ajlouni stressed the partnership between the society and the African Middle East Association of Gastroenterology in organising this conference with the aim of exchanging expertise and information and discussing all relevant issues.

President of the African Middle East Association of Gastroenterology Rida Wakil said that the association’s task focuses on ensuring the application of the best international practices and standards related to digestive and liver diseases through enhancing cooperation among medical associations.

On the sidelines of the event, Princess Basma inaugurated a medical exhibition that displayed several modern technologies used to deal with diseases of the digestive system.
