AMMAN — The 5G Summit kicked off in Amman on Tuesday in the presence of HRH Princess Sumaya, president of the Royal Scientific Society.

This summit, organised by the Arab Advisors Group, a leading provider of research and analysis in the communication and media sectors, offers a platform for industry leaders, technology innovators and experts to collaborate and explore the many possibilities offered by 5G technology, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Princess Sumaya highlighted the rapid acceleration of the 5G network launch, emphasising the need for swift and effective action to ensure policy-making and regulation keep pace.

She discussed the considerable potential of the 5G network, referring to its potential contribution of trillions of dollars to global economic growth and its ability to create new jobs and boost innovation.

Princess Sumaya underlined the importance of the prompt synchronisation of legislative frameworks and business models, calling on governments and industries to mitigate potential risks.

She also urged a stronger focus on renewable energy, recycling and waste reduction to ensure all aspects of the 5G revolution are supported by thoughtful life-cycle planning.

Also speaking during the event, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh stressed that the government’s keenness to introduce 5G services to the Kingdom is based on the technology’s role as a main pillar of Jordan’s ICT infrastructure.

Hanandeh noted that this technology will become the general trend in public life, as well as the world of finance and business, over the next few years.

Fayez Abu Awad, principal adviser of the Arab Advisors Group, said that the summit is an important event for the group, acknowledging the work of the telecommunications community in bringing together local and foreign stakeholders.

Several local and international companies and stakeholders joined the summit, adding a strategic dimension to the event. The summit is expected to catalyse the telecommunications sector in the region and unveil the transformative potential of 5G technology. Orange Jordan served as the local communications partner for the summit.
