AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday approved an agreement for a project to enhance strategic partnership between the government and the international community.
The agreement, prepared by the Planning Ministry in coordination with UN agencies, is part of the Kingdom’s response to the repercussions of the Syrian crisis in 2015.
The project is aimed at enhancing the Planning Ministry’s ability to lead the government’s response to the Syrian crisis by offering counsel on policies and strategic planning, and by coordinating aid, follow-up, assessment, and information management.
The project outlined in the agreement will be implemented in 2015 at a cost of around $1.304 million in cash and in-kind contributions from various UN agencies.
Also during Sunday’s Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the Council of Ministers approved the mandating reasons for the draft national transparency centre law and referred it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau.
The draft stipulates establishing a centre for integrity to replace the Ombudsman Bureau to strengthen the role of monitoring bodies in combating corruption, and ensure the implementation of the National Integrity Charter and its Executive Plan.
The law was presented by the Royal committee to monitor and evaluate progress in implementing the National Integrity Charter and its Executive Plan.
