‘Projected garment factory to offer jobs for Southern Badia residents’

AMMAN — The Labour Ministry on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding with Jerash Garments and Fashions Manufacturing Company to establish a production branch in the Southern Badia region’s Husseiniya District.

The branch will provide 500 job opportunities for women in the district, according to Labour Minister Nidal Katamine, who said the Development and Employment Fund will provide funds for establishing the 500-square-metre factory on a piece of land donated by Mohammad Jazi.

The memorandum, signed after His Majesty King Abdullah visited Southern Badia, stipulates giving the building to the company for free during the first five years of operation, then the investor will pay 75 per cent of the rent under a contract.

Katamine added that the ministry will cover 30 per cent of the trainees’ salaries for the first 18 months, in addition to transport and lunch allowances.
