AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday continued holding its Ramadan iftar banquet for inmates and their families at the Rehabilitation and Correction Centres Department.

The banquet brought together inmates of the Karak and Tafileh correction and rehabilitation centres, “in an atmosphere that aims to consolidate family ties, reflecting the humane approach adopted by these centres”, according to a PSD statement.

In the Women's Correction and Rehabilitation Centre - Juwaideh, the inmates received their families after participating in preparing iftar (the fast-breaking meal at dusk) for their families, in response to the inmates' request.

During the banquet in Juwaideh, an inmate met her family members for the first time in 20 years due to circumstances that led to their separation, the statement said.

The initiative comes as an extension of the PSD strategy in strengthening the role of correction centres by rehabilitating inmates and enabling them to return to a normal life in which they can be active members of society.
