AMMAN — Qatari newspapers on Thursday highlighted the talks between His Majesty King Abdullah and Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Wednesday. Qatari daily newspapers Al Raya, Al Watan, Al Sharq, Al Arab and Lusail highlighted the strategic integration reflected in the “deep-rooted” nature of Qatari-Jordanian relations, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that the Royal visit to Doha would enhance coordination between the two countries on various issues, and open new areas for cooperation.

A QNA expanded report, which highlighted the progression of bilateral relations between the two countries, said that King Abdullah's visit to Doha falls within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations.

QNA also highlighted mutual coordination on regional issues, foremost of which are the Palestinian cause, the peace process and counter-terrorism efforts.

Both countries' private sectors also work on enhancing partnerships in various fields, as demonstrated by the 2021 bilateral trade volume, which reached 624 million Qatari riyals, QNA said.

Qatar is among Jordan's top investors, with ventures exceeding $4.5 billion, distributed in various sectors, mainly real estate, hotels, tourism services, banks, health and energy.

Additionally, Qatar has significant investments in industrial sectors and oil derivatives, $550 million of which are investments from the Qatari private sector. Qatari investments in the Amman Stock Exchange currently measure approximately $950 million.

Amman's Ambassador to Qatar Zeid Louzi said that the summit reflects the “deep-rooted, historical” ties between the two countries.

Amid circumstances that require coordination and consultation, The Royal visit stresses the ongoing contact between the two countries’ leadership, the diplomat said, expressing appreciation for Qatar's efforts in support of Jordan’s Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.
