AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the Regent, on Saturday chaired a follow-up meeting at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) to review progress in implementing the Aqaba strategic plan.

The Regent listened to a briefing by ASEZA Chief Commissioner Nayef Al Fayez on priorities in the implementation of initiatives, development projects, and tourism activities in the city, according to a statement from the Royal Court.

Fayez said ASEZA has prepared a plan to activate key focus sectors in Aqaba’s strategy on the medium and long terms, adding that the authority has completed goals in investment promotion and automating services to streamline procedures for visitors and investors.

He added that the authority has activated employment and technical training programmes to build the capacities of targeted groups, noting also work on updating Aqaba’s master plan.

The chief commissioner said work is underway on the initial plans to build the Aqaba aquarium, and to continue the process of regulating diving centres and the city’s transportation system.

Crown Prince Hussein listened to additional briefings from officials on the implementation of the strategic plan.
