AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh on Wednesday, met with a delegation of MPs from South Carolina, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, Tarawneh highlighted the strategic partnership between the two countries, expressing Jordan’s keenness to expand its cooperation with the US.

He outlined the Kingdom’s stance on various regional issues and the efforts Jordan exerts under His Majesty’s leadership to reach holistic political solutions to the regional crises.

The meeting covered the burdens borne by the Kingdom in light of the Syrian refugee crisis and the regional security situation, which placed great pressure on the country’s economy and its limited resources.

Tarawneh reviewed the regional and international efforts made in the war on terror, and the importance of intensifying those efforts within a holistic strategy.

For their part, the delegation members expressed their appreciation for Jordan’s pivotal role, under His Majesty’s leadership, in dealing with various regional issues and in achieving peace, security and stability in the region.

Also on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with the delegation and discussed bilateral ties and regional developments, especially the war on terror and the efforts exerted towards finding a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
