AMMAN — The Royal Engineering Corps on Thursday destroyed the last batch of 34 confiscated fireworks containers in a special zone allocated for this purpose.
The containers were confiscated and destroyed in cooperation with the public security, civil defence and Jordan customs departments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Seven workers at one of the Amman Customs Department's yards died on October 26 when two fireworks containers exploded.
The fireworks that exploded were supposed to be re-exported.
Importing fireworks was banned by the government in 2009, except for those brought into the country by public agencies for national festivities.
