Senate president, House speaker meet with Saudi ambassador

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Sunday met with Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Nayef Bin Bandar Al Sudairi to discuss bilateral ties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, Fayez highlighted the depth of Jordanian-Saudi relations in various fields.

Fayez stressed His Majesty King Abdullah and Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s keenness to constantly develop and build on the two countries’ relations, describing them as “firm, stable, and based on mutual respect and joint coordination".

Expressing appreciation towards Saudi support to Jordan, he voiced Jordan’s aspirations to increase Saudi investments in various fields.

Sudairi underlined the constant coordination and consultation between the leadership of the two countries in service of the Arab and Islamic nations.

Also on Sunday, Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi met with Sudairi during a meeting of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee where he highlighted the “deep-rooted brotherly” relations between Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Head of the committee, MP Khaldoun Hina, praised the “advanced level” of ties between the two kingdoms. Members of the committee called for increasing investments between the two countries, mainly in the tourist, commercial and agricultural fields, Petra added. 

Sudairi praised the Jordanian role in serving Arab and Islamic interests. The ambassador also highlighted the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing Saudi Arabia's support for Jordan in this regard. 

He also said that Jordan enjoys an attractive investment environment, noting that Saudi investments in the Kingdom started more than 50 years ago.
