AMMAN — During 18th meeting of the Jordanian-Saudi Joint Committee, held in Riyadh on Monday, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Shamali met with Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh bin Nasser Al Jasser to discuss increasing collaboration between the two countries.

Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the economic, trade, energy, transport, tourism, consular, as well as cultural and social sectors, according to a ministry statement.

In a meeting prior to the committee’s formal sessions, both ministers underlined the importance of overcoming obstacles to trade and investment exchange.

The convening of the committee represents a “concrete commitment” to enhancing cooperation, especially in light of the current exceptional global circumstances, Shamali said.

The minister affirmed that the growth in bilateral trade volume is “a clear testimony” to the success of both countries’ efforts to transform agreements into tangible projects.

The Saudi minister said that the meetings of the committee and associated sub-committees stems from the shared commitment to implement previous agreements and memoranda of understanding.

Leading the Jordanian side during the preparatory committee meetings, Secretary-General of the Ministry Dana Zou’bi, and Saif bin Saad Al Faqar, Saudi Undersecretary of Transport and Logistics for Planning and Development, reviewed the key agreements reached during the preparatory meetings, which concluded on Sunday.

Wrapping up the committee meetings, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Amman Stock Exchange, the Saudi Stock Exchange and the Saudi Tadawul Group. This was complemented by the approval of an executive programme in the field of vocational training.
