Spanish ambassador visits Mafraq Greater Municipality

AMMAN — Spanish Ambassador in Amman Aránzazu Bañón on Thursday joined a session at Mafraq Greater Municipality on the priorities of citizens in the budget, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During her visit to Mafraq, 80km northeast of Amman, Bañón also checked on projects implemented in cooperation with Spain، and was briefed on the challenges that face the municipality.
She stressed her country›s commitment to supporting Jordan in dealing with the challenges generated by hosting Syrian refugees, which affected various vital sectors. For his part, Mafraq Mayor Amer Dughmi said that hosting refugees in Mafraq has had severe impacts on education, water, energy, public services and infrastructure, and increased joblessness among Jordanian young people.
He praised the Spanish support to the municipality, which contributed to increasing its budget from JD7 million to JD15 million with no deficit.
