Study says prices of 11 food items dropped over past month

AMMAN — The Consumer Protection Society on Sunday said a study it conducted on the prices of 95 food items between March 5 and April 5 showed a decline in the prices of 11 items by 23.18 per cent and an 11.4 per cent rise in the prices of five items.
Seventy-seven items maintained their prices during the same period.
Fava beans registered the highest drop (33.3 per cent), while scallions registered the lowest drop (6.25 per cent), according to the study.
The prices of imported guava and Egyptian clementine went up by 9 and 10 per cent respectively.
Rice and tea maintained their prices, the study revealed.
