AMMAN — Tickets are on sale for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Jordan later this year, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) announced on Wednesday.

At a press conference in Amman, the LOC said that tickets for the event are available “at affordable prices” for all Jordanians, ranging from JD2 to JD 50, according to an LOC statement.

The championship will be “the largest sporting event in Jordan’s history”, and the LOC hopes Jordanian fans will attend matches to cheer on their favourite teams, LOC CEO Samar Nassar said.

“Jordanian audiences play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of a successful tournament, for they are the foundation that will give rise to an atmosphere of excitement and sportsmanship throughout the upcoming games,” she added, according to the statement.

Nassar said the audience is “player number 12”, voicing hope that Jordanians would express their pride and enthusiasm for the tournament “while showing the whole world the extent of our capacities, potential and ambitions”.

The event opens on September 30, the LOC official said.

“We look forward to witnessing an increasing number of families, friends and football fans of all ages make their way to our football stadia to live the moment, support the world’s most talented young female footballers, and cheer on their favourite teams,” she added.

Fans can purchase individual tickets, and packages for families, schools and groups will also be available at discounted prices, the LOC said.

Venue packages in various categories are also available, allowing fans to buy tickets and packages for all games at a particular stadium for a reduced cost, the LOC added.

Spectators can buy tickets online (http://www.fifa.com/u17womensworldcup/organisation/ticketing/index.html) until July 31, for a 15 per cent discount.

From August 1, tickets will be available online and at physical points of sale, which will travel along with the nationwide trophy tour and other events in the run-up to the tournament, the LOC explained.

From September 1 to October 21, tickets will be sold at fixed places in Amman, Zarqa and Irbid, the cities set to host the tournament.

The event is being sponsored by VISA, and tickets will only be available to VISA card holders for the first two weeks.
