Trade balance deficit for first eight months declines

AMMAN — The trade balance deficit for the first eight months of this year fell by 3.7 per cent, driven by higher national exports and lower imports, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to data from the Department of Statistics, the total exports for the period amounted to JD3.555 billion, an increase of 2.9 per cent, compared to the same period in 2017.
National exports during the first eight months of 2018 stood at JD2.999 billion with an increase of 2.6 per cent compared to the same period last year, while the value of re-exports reached JD564 million during the first eight months of this year, an increase of 4.5 per cent, compared to the same period of 2017.
Imports were at JD9.949 billion during the first eight months of 2018, down by 1.3 per cent compared to the same period of 2017.
