AMMAN — The Jordanian-Czech Joint Committee on Tuesday discussed means to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, investment, energy, natural resources, defence industries, health, water, agriculture, transport and tourism.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali and Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Sikela chaired the second session of the meeting that was held via videoconference, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Shamali stressed that Jordan attaches great importance to enhancing economic cooperation with the Czech Republic in a variety of fields, which requires intensifying efforts to address current regional and international challenges and their repercussions.

He also said that there is an opportunity to boost economic cooperation and utilise advantages in the two countries in a way that contributes to increasing intra-trade and stimulating the private sector to establish investment projects that can realise joint interests.

Sikela referred to the importance of the meeting in discussing mechanisms to enhance economic cooperation and increasing the volume of trade, describing Jordanian-Czech relations as "strategic and distinguished."

He referred to the possibility of supporting cooperation via various means, including collaboration among chambers of commerce and holding exhibitions, welcoming Jordanian companies to participate in various Czech fairs.

At the end of the session, the two sides signed the meeting minutes.
