Trade, services sectors' GDP contribution stands at 56.1% — ACC

AMMAN — Jordan's gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of 2021 amounted to JD14.992 billion at current prices, to which the trade and services sectors contributed 56.1 per cent, figures released by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) showed on Saturday.

The figures showed that the country's six-month GDP expanded by JD374 million to reach JD14.992 billion, from the JD14.618 billion reported in the same period of 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Of the total contribution, the trade and services sectors contributed 56.1 per cent, the restaurants and hotels sector accounted for 9 per cent, the transport and telecommunications sector for 8.9 per cent and the financial, real estate and businesses sectors made up 20.3 per cent.

The total number of businesses registered with the ACC stood at 34,736 with a combined capital of about JD31.883 billion. The number of ACC-affiliated companies working in the foodstuff sector reached 8,500, followed by the constructions and building equipment with 3,827 companies and the garment and jewelry with 3,748.
