Universal health coverage achievable in Jordan — UN

AMMAN — The World Health Organisation (WHO) in Jordan on Saturday called for furthering universal health coverage, ahead of the annual World Health Day celebration on Sunday, under the theme of “Health for All”.
In an official statement sent to The Jordan Times, UN Resident Coordinator Andres Pedersen, WHO Representative to Jordan Maria Cristina Profili and UNICEF Jordan Representative Robert Jenkins underlined the importance of public healthcare for the attainment of fairer healthcare systems, saying that it is possible to achieve in Jordan.
The statement added that public primary healthcare is the most cost-efficient and effective way to achieve health for all. Particular focus will be given to the importance of public and people-centred healthcare systems and the challenges facing public healthcare, such as the lack of resources and the gap in poor and marginalised communities, the statement highlighted.
