University of Jordan turns 56

AMMAN — Sunday marks the 56th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Jordan (UJ), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. His Majesty the late King Hussein issued a decree establishing the university on September 2, 1962.

The university has grown to offer 250 academic programmes in various human, applied, medical and health disciplines.

UJ and its faculty members have been awarded many accolades for outstanding performance, most notably the Order of Al Hussein for Distinguished Contributions of the First Class on the occasion of its 50th anniversary in 2012.
